Christmas is definitely the time when the fireplace is at its peak.  Santa comes down the chimney to place the gifts under the Christmas tree or in stockings.  It is traditional to leave a plate of cookies and a glass of milk or a cup of cocoa just in case Santa gets tired from the trip around the world.  The fireplace is decked with all the trimmings and decorations.  Come Christmas morning the whole family gathers around the fireplace to open their gifts and sing Christmas carols.

There are other activities you can do around your home electric fireplace.  You can bring out those photo albums and share memories or just snuggle all together with a blanket while sipping hot choco and reminisce about past Christmases and talk about future plans.

Fireplaces are a must if you are planning a romantic evening.  The cozy atmosphere gives a feeling of intimacy that could ignite passion.  Spending the night in front of the fireplace is a surefire way to win her heart.

Here are some other suggestions on how you can take advantage of the fireplace's warmth and ambiance.

Dinner and casual parties are perfect occasions to take advantage of your fireplace.  You can have a winter party with it as the focal point. You can decorate your fireplace with paper snowflakes,   fake snow and white flower arrangements. The good thing with home electric fireplaces is that you can even do it in the middle of summer. It's usual to roast marshmallows over the fireplace but since you have the home electric type,  have a small center table and place an electric grill for that purpose.

If you have time on your hands, sitting in front of the fireplace with the flames turned on and reading a good book is a good way to pass the time. 

After a hard days' work, you come home and switch on your electric fireplace to heat up the house.  Turn on the stereo and have a hot cup of cocoa in front of the fireplace.  This is a nice way of relaxing while you think of what you need to do tomorrow.

If you have kids, have an impromptu talent show.  This is a great way for the whole family to bond and at the same time discover your kids' hidden talents.  You might find you have hidden talents of your own as well. 

Another is to play boardgames with the whole family after dinner.  With a stack of cards,  you can play several card games in front of your fireplace.  Or tell bedtime stories.  Or better yet,  tell ghost stories.  The intimacy of the fire combined with a dimly lit room would make them more scary.  You can take turns telling your own scary story then take a vote on whose story is the scariest.  The possibilities of what you can do in front of the fireplace are endless. You just need a lot of imagination and creativity.
